Bikie Bob’s Sport News this week 11-23-2010

For the first time on this site and hopefully not the last, the week’s interclub cycling news from Bikie Bob. Thanks Bob!

With the road cycling season stretching from late February to the end of October for those that ride hill climb events there is not much time in the “social season” for all the essentials that need to be done before the new season. In the old days a lay off period after the last race was called for but nowadays for some training for the new season starts almost as soon as the old one finishes while for others racing continues throughout the winter either with wet and muddy cyclocross racing or the relative warmth and comfort of racing indoors at the velodrome.

NWCCA Round 9 – Sutton Manor

This year’s course was significantly different according to the organisers. “a varied and challenging course for Saturdays race. Whilst there is wet (very) grass, the sections are split with tarmac to give riders some respite. I would advise wearing clear glasses and have tyres reasonably hard as even on the grass there is plenty of grip. The steep climbs have been omitted, so too has the rough track running parallel to the Motorway, scene of many punctures.”
